Whereever He Leads I'll Go

"Verse
'Take up thy cross and follow Me,'
I heard my Master say;
'I gave My life to ransom thee,
Surrender your all today.'

Chorus
Wherever He leads I'll go,
Wherever He leads I'll go,
I'll follow my Christ who loves me so,
Wherever He leads I'll go.

He drew me closer to His side,
I sought His will to know;
And in that will I now abide,
Wherever He leads I'll go.

It may be through the shadows dim
Or o'er the stormy sea:
I take my cross and follow Him,
Wherever He leadeth me.

My heart, my life, my all I bring
To Christ who loves me so;
He is my Master, Lord, and King,
Wherever He leads I'll go."

Our new project

I just wanted to do something for my children that would be a delightful surprise and something functional. Oh, and it had to be inexpensive. I thought about making them matching outfits...but no; that's been accomplished many, many times and I didn't want to be too predictable.

So, I thought and thought and decided on making an indoor teepee! I was so excited at the very thought of making something functional, fun, large, and very simple...

The pattern I found was one that just describes the deminsions and has a couple of photographs to go by.

This pattern calls for a somewhat triangular pattern piece that is approximately 54 inches at the base and 54 inches tall...wow...

I needed to draw up a pattern. I had to have a large piece of paper or tape lots of newspaper together. I just happened to have purchased some cheap Christmas wrapping paper on the 90% off sale I actually purchased this wrapping paper because it was less than 50 cents! I didn't like the pattern really, but, for the price, why not!

Turning the paper on the wrong side made a perfect canvas for me to draw my pattern!

Everything was coming together...I followed the directions...now I had the perfect pattern piece...
I folded it up and put it in the book sort of like a bookmark.

Everyday I kept thinking about what sort of material I'd use for this project. I wanted to keep thing inexpensive and that narrowed my choices down significantly. knowing most fabric wide enough for this project would be out of my budget since I would need 4 1/2 yards.

I decided to go to my favorite thift store and there I found exactly what I'd been needing the entire time! I purchase some pretty and cheap sheets. I found a king size and that became my main color, then, I chose a contasting color from a full size sheet I located...
there was no guilt there at all...both sheets were well used, however, there were no obvious signs of wear or piling.

I got home, within in a few hours, I was completely finished sewing the sides and the casings!

Now...how am I going to get this teepee to stand? PVC pipe of course! I went to my favorite home improvement store and purchase pvc, I needed the 3/4 inch, and the caps for the ends...so, in all, I needed 4 pvc that measured 58 inches long and 8 end caps.

I was so excited...I knew I was minutes away from seeing my completed project...

I got home...drilled my holes in the top ends of the pvc...that is to secure the legs together to keep the teepee in one place and sturdy it up a bit.

I threaded the completed teepee that I sewed...I did a lot of praying...because, this is where the test of my abilities comes in...I could find out I messed up somewhere...anything...so, I sort of prayed throught the assembly...

It worked...(whew!)

then, I threaded my shoelace in the holes, tied it tightly...and I unfolded my teepee and I was soooo excited...it came out better than I had anticipated.

I took pictures (of course)...I got in and it was nice!

I haven't been that excited about any of my sewing projects since I made my first stuffed animal in middle school in my sewing class.

When my children came home...I showed them the teepee and they have been playing with it nonstop since then.
